I really like Hades and I will definitely sink more hours in it then their other games, but Bastion made a much bigger impact and this is not likely to change. I haven't played Pyre yet, the concept didn't really click with me. Purposefully handicap yourself of a really good unit, all because you want them to be free, only hampered because of my fighting the controls.īut ultimately I play a game for a good game and I have no desire to revisit Pyre aside from the soundtrack, while the other two I'll certainly revisit many times in the future. Which also made it one of the most emotionally satisfying to get through The choice of having to Free your favorite character was also really cool too. The story and lore I think were the most fleshed out of their games though. Maybe it's because I used KBM (no controller at the time or maybe I was stubborn) but the controls just fought me at every turn, changing characters and moving was a chore. ![]() Hades top by a mile > Transistor because I'm a coding nerd and it resonated more story wise > Bastion a close 3rd > Pyre a distant last. I had no issues with the silent protags of the previous games but SG seem to be doing so much more with the snarky little jerk having a voice. It also builds on their token narrator with making them a unique character with really fun dialog and back-and-forth with Zagrious. The game built upon Bastion and Transistor's best parts to make one extremely fluid game with tons of depth and replayability both lacked. Like, I only have 5 hours but I think Hades is their absolute best work yet.
